Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
